  • Late-Discovery Donor-Conceived Person.

  • Biological father or mother.

  • The parent who raised the individual, regardless of biological connection.

  • Half Sibling

    A sibling who shares one biological parent.

  • Birth Certificate Father

    Name of the man listed on a person’s birth certificate which may or may not be their biological father.

  • Not Parent Expected

    A person who discovers (or receives confirmation) through DNA testing that one or both presumed parents are not biologically related.

  • Misattributed Parental Experience

    Umbrella term for NPEs, donor-conceived individuals, and late-discovery adoptees.

  • Donor-Conceived Person

    Someone conceived through sperm, egg, or embryo donation.

  • Late-Discovery Adoptee

    A person who learns later in life that they were adopted.
